Music is more than just a way to pass the time—it’s a lifelong skill that brings joy, exploration, and a sense of accomplishment. Sure, video games can be fun, and TV can make us laugh, but learning an instrument fills a home with music and creates meaningful, rewarding experiences.

About

I have been teaching orchestra for 18 years at the Middle School level. I play and teach all of the string instruments: violin, viola, cello, and bass. I also teach guitar and ukulele.

My students play a variety of musical styles from Classical to Jazz and Rock. We learn to read music, learn to play by ear, and experience many other musical traditions.

I perform bass and violin in the eclectic jazz ensemble The Viper & His Famous Orchestra.

I received my Masters of Music Education from Northwestern University and I double-majored in Music Education and Music Performance (Double Bass) for my Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
